"Logansteno: Bought a VW?" (logansteno)

My van is driving like it's about 10 years newer all of the sudden.
The brakes have stopped locking up and the pedal has a progressive feel to it rather than all the stopping being done in the first inch. I sat at a stop light repeatedly pushing the pedal to the floor and back and it suddenly felt good... well, better.
It sounds... good now. Like it almost has a V8 growl to it once you get into the higher RPMs. Maybe the internals of my muffler have disintegrated, because there's something rattling around in there.
It just feels more... lively for some reason.
I haven't done anything to it. Is me pushing it hard burning some dust off components or something!? I have no explanation.
I'M SO CONFUSED.
I also just noticed how desperately I need new tires.

You never did get plates. Too bad. Van Slow would've been funny.

True, but now something catastrophic is going to happen to it because it's working well.
You know, like the transmission or something similar.

Yeah, mom said no way if I'm getting rid of it when the plates were due again in two years. Oh well.

I'd call this it's 10th wind.

Maybe driving it aggressively is putting more pressure on the once clogged injectors thus unclogging them.

Strangest thing, last night so did my 4Runner. While I was passing somebody who was doing 40 in a 55, it decided it wanted to be a late 2000's Camry and wanted to keep accelerating.

Maybe, considering my mom drove it like a little old lady for 10 years, and it sat being used only once every 3 months for 6 years. Then I got hold of it and drive it like I stole it.

It actually was, because by the time I realized it was stuck, it was in the rev range sweet spot. So as I approach the one flat sharpish curve in the county, I was doing 75 in a lifted suv. Good times.

You've probably cleared out all the dust that has been clogged up in there with hard driving. I know my GLI felt just a bit more brisk when I was honing last night than it did 2 nights ago (granted 2 nights ago, it's fuel pump was saying "fuck it" the whole way)
The brakes? they were probably re-adjusted badly if you drove on to/over something at speed, and now they've sorted themselves out.
The Growl? It's the van telling you some shaggin' needs to happen back there, and SOON.
That's it! your van is horny :P

Don't let it mate with a potato. That's how minivans are made.

Rattling around in there? As long as it's not coming from the middle of the car, where your catalytic converter is...

I didn't know it could go past 70 without vtec kicking in.

You can do 2 awesome things with this van:
1. Go the 70's custom airbrush shag van route
2. Build a Dajiban van. (A Japanese style of modifying American vans to race them)
Since you already drive it like a D-van racer, this will probably suit you.

Oh no, it'll do about 95. Though it is kind of like VTEC in that it has no power below 4k rpm. If I could skip 1st gear it wouldn't be that slow. Just the first gear lasts til about 20 and then thinks for a few seconds if it wants to go to second.

If you have really done 95 in that thing you win all of the internets. My ES300 feels really sketchy over 65..
